JHM prides itself on being one of the first few dance schools in Scotland delivering the new iD-Dance Contemporary graded syllabus work,

Created by Ryan Jenkins this innovative examination path has brought contemporary dance and the training for the young dancer to a new level a blend of the original techniques of Cunningham and Graham the syllabus allows each dancer to express themselves individually with a strong emphasis on the performance of feeling.

Contemporary dance evolved from modern and ballet with greater use of floor work and improvisation. Pupils in class can enjoy the creative freedom in this style while training to exceptionally moving music current to them at the given time.

Mini Contemporary 1 start from age 8 and follows the grade 1 iD-Dance syllabus, progressing through to grade 5.

Exams are held throughout the year where pupils can interpret the set dances and show creative license in expressing their own style and work.
